One of the things I enjoy doing this time of year is to look at garden and seed books/catalogs. It would make me look forward to putting out a garden. These pics I will be showing you are from a few years ago at my farmhouse.
With all this cold, long winter, I can't wait till I can get back to gardening. But it may not be this year because of all the work that's going on at the cottage.
One of my favorite garden books is called Down the Garden Path. It's a garden book but with comparison of our life to the Bible.
Beautiful blooms and a bountiful harvest requires good soil.
In the Bible, Jesus use a word picture of garden dirt to help us understand how the beauty and the bounty of our character, our life, and our deeds are dependent upon the condition of our Heart (soil).
The seed of God's Word requires GOOD SOIL to germinate, take root, grow deep and bear abundant fruit.
(paragraph taken from this book)
Create in me a rich and fertile (heart) soil. O God, and clean out every weed that keeps me from enjoying your presence and bringing you glory........
Blackberry Blooms............................
2 Corinthians 9:6 He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully........
Morning Glories in the beans................
Psalm 72:19 Let the whole earth be filled with His glory!
My neighbors pergola grape vineyard was plentiful that year.........
John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches.........abide in me.....
Jeremiah 31:12....... Your soul shall be like a well-watered garden
Psalm 103:2...... Forget not all His benefits
Proverbs 11:18.... He who sows righteousness......REAPS a sure reward
Numbers 6: 24-25.............The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you....
Bloom where you are planted...........
I have learned the secret of being content......
Psalm 118:24......This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!
Have a wonderful and blessed week~~~Roxie

ReplyDeleteHow lovely to read another one of your posts! The pictures are beautiful. I think I love the one with the tree the most. Magnificent!

Hi Roxie! I loved the tour of your garden plot, it looks gorgeous, so orderly. And your soil does look rich. (Love the little cat in the photo, looking like he owns the place!) To learn to live in all circumstances, that's the key to happiness I think.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you may not have time for a garden this year, but think how great your house is going to look! You can let your earth lie fallow this year. Bumper crop next year :)
Blessings my friend,
Ceil
Roxie,
ReplyDeleteYour garden a few years ago was wonderful. I really want to plant a garden when we move to our final home. I have always loved gardening, and it brings me peace. Look at that tree - I love it! Your garden is so green and groomed, and I love the sunflower. Thank you for the sunshine today.
Have a blessed week.
Love,
~Sheri
The pictures of your garden are so wonderful, it makes me dreamy! My garden is a jungle after all the violent storms we've had in Brittany. But I must confess I don't take care of it. I decided this year, I had too many project going on inside!
ReplyDeleteRoxie, what gorgeous pictures! And a beautiful message :)

Ah Roxie - thank you dear for such wonderful words. For those of us who love to garden there are so many scriptures that come to mind when one is digging in God's wonderful earth. I am too getting anxious to get out there planting again. Hope spring will be coming soon. Those morning glories grew in my beans too. In fact I think I had more of the morning glories than beans - but who cares they are so beautiful. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful post! Will have to check out the book! Thanks for sharing and wishing you a blessed week Roxie! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteWe are looking forward to digging in the dirt as well Roxie! Not sure when we'll see it with all of this snow we've been having...but no complaints...God has given us the most beautiful winter this year and we are thankful!! Thanks for the beautiful post and verses :)
