OPEN SHELVING and getting ANTSY!

                                                            pinterest

I thought I would give my blogger friends an update on the cottage.  We still have not taken possession of it because the couple living there needed an extra month to move.  So hubby and I agreed.
In the meantime, we have been looking at new roofing and having estimates......and I have been looking at pics for ideas on the cottages very small kitchen.  Can I tell you....I AM ANTSY!  Very ANTSY!
I came across this picture that I liked.  I like the glass cabinets and the island.  But see the rocking chair?  Lovely and all but this is how I feel......WAITING......and more WAITING.......I'm rocking and waiting!!
Regardless.....here are a few pics that have caught my eye for shelving.  Enjoy!

                                                                  pinterest
I love the French look of this small kitchen.  The simple open shelving is nice.  Of course, the Island and sink are gorgeous!

                   Same kitchen.....different view

                                                               pinterest
I thought his old cupboard on the wall would be a great idea for an open shelf look

                                                                    pinterest
LOVE this!  Especially the galvanized top of the counter/furniture piece.  Very simple elegance

                                                 pinterest
I actually have one of these coops!  I was looking to sell it but now I'm not so sure.......... this may be something to consider!

                                                                  pinterest
This is darling too!  More shelving....which I could do, but this may be too much for me.  Again, the sink and farm table is so nice!

                                                                   pinterest
This grabs me....LOVE the table and the single shelf in the background.

Hopefully, around two weeks, I can start showing you "before" pics of the cottage.  I still have "ants in my pants" but will be patient and take care of other things while I am waiting.
Blessings~~~Roxie

  2. I love the kitchen with all the green glassware. Oh and the chicken coop....that certainly is a keeper too! When we lived in the country I had an open shelving in the kitchen and the open concept of kitchen, frontroom, dinning roon and bedroom. The only room enclosed was the bathroom (whew, good thing). We were building and living inside our pole shed. I never knew we were in style for today and that was 37 years ago!!! You are going to have fun restyling your little cottage, I am sure!!

  3. It's going to be wonderful! I love all the ideas that you've gathered, and having a few more weeks to narrow it down will be nice, in some ways.
We let someone live in a house that we bought, for about a month after we closed on the house. I felt like it was the polite thing to do, because it had been a family home.
Once, we started moving in, we still couldn't get them to haul their stuff out of the barn and garage for another month. In retrospect, I think they took advantage of our generous nature.
We learned a valuable lesson from it, however, and now, we get everything in writing. You have a kind heart, and I hope that your kindness is respected :) Thanks for the update~

  4. Hi Roxie, all of these kitchens are beautiful. My opinion is that a small amount of open shelving goes a long way. I have glass doors on many of my cabinets and I like that. It is just that with open shelving, you do have to do a lot of taking things down and cleaning them, way more often. They are charming and wonderful for showing off your pretty things, thought. I'm sure that you are collecting a lot of ideas, and that your kitchen is going to reflect your incredible taste :) I'm getting excited for you and I am going to enjoy the journey from start to finish.
    Have fun with it,
    Your blogging sister, Connie :)

  6. I love them all. I like my open shelving, and I put my everyday dishes on them. This is a really dusty place, but because it is everyday ware it doesn't have time to get dirty. Frankly around here, the inside of my cabinets are just as dusty as the outside. I have one glass cabinet, and that is where I put some pretty things that I use less frequently. Come to think of it, all my upper shelving and island. except for the one glass cupboard, is open.

  14. Hi Roxie! Aww..you are being so patient with the current occupants. That's so good of you, while you fling yourself into kitchen plans. I like that shelf with the steel and wood. It's really interesting!
And I commend you for having open shelving. Maybe that would keep me from having such a disaster hidden behind kitchen cupboards! The white is so clean and cheery too. What color is the kitchen now? Can't wait for the 'before pics' to see.
    Happy Tuesday!

  19. I love the really vintage looking kitchen. The second and third photo. I always thought that if I had a little cottage kitchen, I would get a cute Smeg refrigerator. And then I looked up the price! Yikes! But they are just so CUTE! I bet you are antsy. Ready to get going and I'm sure everyone is as ready as I am to follow along.
