PROVERBS 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your HEART. Lean not unto your own understanding, but acknowledge him in all thy ways and he will direct your path.

~~~~~INSPIRATION IN DECORATING~~~~~
I went to the cottage yesterday to do some work.  Ken went a couple of hours before me.  At the last minute, I grabbed an antique frame hanging in my hall bathroom.  I thought, I need a little "inspiration" at the cottage before I start to work.  That's whats all around us......mess, dirt, tools, etc.
I came in the cottage, cleared off the mantle and set the antique frame down.  Then I turned the sconces on and stepped back and visualized~~~~yes, call me crazy.....but I needed to "decorate".
Ken says what are you doing?  My response.....I need to be "inspired" before I start working!  He just looks at me with a half grin......
Today is a cold, rainy, miserable day.  Ken left the house to go to the cottage at 8 am.  Not me........I came a few hours later.  Here is what I saw when I walked in the door........
He told me "I needed to be inspired before I started working".  Who would know?  I had to laugh!!  What you are seeing is my hubbys creativity.....he does think a little different, but always makes me smile with his sense of humor!
Just in case you can't see what it is............................(sorry for the dark pics, overcast today)
                          Besides me, this is a love of his life~~~~~He has such good taste!!
                                         Blessings and a wonderful week~~~Roxie
ARTICLES DE PARIS
I want you to meet my new, old door.  I have been looking for an old door with character to be installed on the larger of the two bathrooms.
About a month ago, I came across an old door at an Antique Mall and LOVED it!  It was the natural wood with a great patina, all hardware including hinges, and glass in the door about this size with a stencil/painted bird motif (perfect for a cabin w/nature) but still some femininity.  I passed on it..........thought more about it and went back to get it and guess what?  Yep, it was gone!   REGRET.
So .............yesterday I came across this door at a local Antique Mall.  I love it!  The color is not of my choice (though it is old paint) and I haven't decided to paint it  or sand it down.  I'd prefer to use some natural wood tones with white walls and lean to sanding to a wood patina.
I have a choice where to use this door......into the larger bathroom or on a walk-in closet hubby is building.  The french wordage would be perfect for a closet door but the door wouldn't be seen as much.  I plan on putting white lace behind the glass for privacy.  That really makes the door/french words pop!
THE COTTAGE DOOR
The sanding of the Cottage front door has begun.  It is 85 years old but is a solid door.  We can see what the door will look like now there has been layers of stain and red paint taken off.  Of course, there is more to do but I believe the door will be beautiful when finished.
Here are a few pictures of old wooden front doors from pinterest..........Enjoy!
Revelation 13: 20  -   Here I am:  I stand at the door and  knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
DOWN THE GARDEN PATH.........
One of the things I enjoy doing this time of year is to look at garden and seed books/catalogs.  It would make me look forward to putting out a garden.  These pics I will be showing you are from a few years ago at my farmhouse.
With all this cold, long winter, I can't wait till I can get back to gardening. But it may not be this year because of all the work that's going on at the cottage.
One of my favorite garden books is called Down the Garden Path.  It's a garden book but with comparison of our life to the Bible.
Beautiful blooms and a bountiful harvest requires good soil.
In the Bible, Jesus use a word picture of garden dirt to help us understand how the beauty and the bounty of our character, our life, and our deeds are dependent upon the condition of our Heart (soil).
The seed of God's Word requires GOOD SOIL to germinate, take root, grow deep and bear abundant fruit.
(paragraph taken from this book)
Create in me a rich and fertile (heart) soil.  O God, and clean out every weed that keeps me from enjoying your presence and bringing you glory........
                                     Blackberry Blooms............................
                       2 Corinthians 9:6      He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully........
                                                  Morning Glories in the beans................
                                  Psalm 72:19   Let the whole earth be filled with His glory!
                                     My neighbors pergola grape vineyard was plentiful that year.........
                                  John 15:5     I am the vine; you are the branches.........abide in me.....
                           Jeremiah 31:12....... Your soul shall be like a well-watered garden
                                      Psalm 103:2...... Forget not all His benefits
                         Proverbs 11:18.... He who sows righteousness......REAPS a sure reward
Numbers 6: 24-25.............The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make His face shine upon you....
                                                     Bloom where you are planted...........
                                                  I have learned the secret of being content......
          Psalm 118:24......This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it!
                           Have a wonderful and blessed week~~~Roxie
ROMANTIC GARDEN SETTINGS
It's no secret that I have a LOVE for vine/flower covered pergolas, arbors or gazebos.  Outside structures with vintage wrought iron tables and chairs or potting areas swoon me!  Since we are supposedly getting more snow/ice in the next few days and Valentines Day is just around the corner.....I thought it would be nice to see images of  Spring/Summer.  Can't you picture yourself sitting here?
                                                                       pinterest
                                                                           pinterest
                                                       A sweet Romantic- Rustic look!!
                                                                   pinterest
                                                    I could stay here for hours!
                                                         Romantic Homes-pinterest
I'm always on the look-out for vintage wrought iron furniture.  If I had a barn or large building it would be full of it! (and vintage gliders)
If I hosted a luncheon, which setting do you prefer?
................and speaking of gliders, this is my all-time favorite!  My hubby took a damaged glider, repurposed it into a swing and painted it PINK for me.  He did this one day when I wasn't home.  What a beautiful surprise!  Though this happened a few years ago....I will always treasure and remember the look on his face....the love in his eyes with a big smile.  I couldn't have asked for anything better~~~Once we move and get settled into our cottage, this again will be hung under an arbor of flowers and vines~~~~~Happy Valentines Day~~~Blessings~~~Roxie
Also~~~~Bernideens Tea Time is hosting a Valentines Tea Party, Tues. Feb. 11!  Your all invited!  If you like please copy and post on your blog!    Thanks~~~Roxie
TUBS, SINKS and MORE TUBS.......decisions, decisions
                                                                    pinterest
I'm going to show you some gorgeous bathrooms with clawfoot tubs from pinterest.  Now mind you, I have suggested to hubby that we should put a small clawfoot tub in the smaller bathroom.  We originally were going to keep the older, small tub but now have decided against it.
To my surprise, he says.....I think that might look nice.  So the search is on..........
In the meantime, I turn to pinterest.........to dream..........I mean, get ideas! (my tiny bathroom is a far cry from this, but I will love it)  I've learned to be content in all things...God is good!
                                                            pinterest
                                                                       pinterest
                                                            pinterest
                                                              pinterest
                                This is what we are considering.................................
But I have this one in my backyard..................the REAL thing!!  But weighs a ton!  It would need to be refinished...aprox. $400 plus BUT it's TOO big for the space.
                                                                        pinterest
I would love to have this console type sink....that's my first choice but I NEED storage....OLD house, not much storage!  Of course, I know I can use baskets but I don't know if that's enough...
           ............ But I am considering this Martha Stewart vanity (sorry for the blurry pic)
Very cottage, lots of storage and a white top.  The bottom base is a soft gray called sharkey
Now that the cottage is gutted.......the decisions and hard work begins.  It's very exciting but one must be careful to make the right choices.  Hope you have enjoyed a little insight to what hubby and I are thinking about and will be deciding very soon.  Have a wonderful, blessed week and please be careful and stay warm~~~loving prayers.......Roxie
    COLD, COLD GO AWAY.............COME BACK AGAIN, ANOTHER DAY!!!!!
                               Sorry Lord, I know I shouldn't complain...................
                            Have beautiful, blessed days ahead~~~Roxie
