My Glass Garden House Cottage

This is my glass gardenhouse my Hubby built for me just recently.  It is 10 x 10, pea gravel floor and built with antique and vintage windows!     The majority of the windows came from the oldest Cottage on our street.  The new owners wanted new Windows and I went a knockin'!

The antique cast iron sink is "L" shaped with a very high back.  Hubby built a solid, eclectic base for it.  I added a thrift store (older) Waverly fabric for $2.00!

Rosemary with a silver spoon I stamped marking it

The garden is quiet and has been put to sleep

Happy Fall from the Cottage and Glass House Cottage

PICKIN' GOODIES

Thought I would post a couple of vintage/antique goodies I found on the #127 longest yard sale...

                 A great chicken nesting box~~~~A 21 Hotelier!

This antique wood door came out of an 1850's brick schoolhouse.  I'm sure the door was added later (with sign).  It has original knobs (both sides)and side hardware.  The glass was in the door when brought out to sell....the wind blew the door over and well......the glass broke.  BUT because of that, I got a great deal!

Sweet finds~~~Be Blessed.......Roxie

GARDEN HOUSE~GREENHOUSE~SHE SHED

                                                 pinterest

A few months back, the oldest cottage on my street was up for sale.  Full of character and charm but needed some work.  At one point, Hubby and I considered buying it but decided it wasn't the right time.  Especially, when you are still working on the one you live in.
The cottage sold to a wonderful couple who downsized (just like us).  Upon learning the couple would be replacing all the "old" windows, I was offered the chance to get them.  Well, I couldn't pass that up.....
I now have over 50 nice old windows...some with character, some plain.  So what does one do with all these windows??
Well, Hubby decided to tell me, he was going to build me a Garden House/Greenhouse/She Shed!  Wow, did he ever speak too soon.....So here are some examples I have been scouring PINTEREST and the internet for...

They are so nice in their own special design.  Each one has something I like. This project will not be until next year but I am looking forward to it.  We have a few other more important things to do like put a new roof on the garage.
The Garden House will be approx. 8 x 8  or 10 x 10.  depends on the windows etc.
I have found a neat 100 yr. old door for it too!

Which one is your favorite?

JUST A WORKIN'

Just a quick post to show an update on the outside..........

                              We put some very simple landscaping in this Spring.....

            the oil/stain is ALMOST finished!  (we have the "yellow" part to finish too)
Then......some "light" landscaping in the Fall on the side of the cottage and in the front of the side deck.  Plus, if time allows, there will be a Pergola going over the side deck you see in this picture.....can't wait!
This deck comes off the family room that was added years ago.

          The moral of the story~~~"A mans work is never done"!   LOVE my Ken~~~

You can't build Rome in a day........in this case, a Cottage!   Blessings~~~Roxie

MEET ME AT THE MARKET

                                                              pinterest

                         Yep, It's been a while............
 If you are wondering......I have been keeping myself pretty busy these last few months.  Things I LOVE to do.......and things I don't care to do.

One of those "things" I love is visiting the Farmers Markets in our area......
Isn't this just the SWEETEST thing selling flowers off this pick-up bed turned FLOWER STAND?

As I stated earlier in the year...I won't be blogging as much as I use to. BUT, I still enjoy visiting your blogs, seeing all the creativity one shares or just a GOOD, ENCOURAGING post that makes one smile!

You see....one of the "things" I don't care to do is seeing a "C" Doctor.....but it is necessary.  Even though everything is going GREAT,  I have been back on treatment since March....yuk.
The Doc wants to try to shrink that ugly tumor a little more.............Hey, it's been almost 6 yrs!  Isn't GOD good!
                  In the meantime.......you will find me visiting Farmers Markets, Flea Markets and some Junking.  And of course, thanking the Lord for everything he has done for me in my life!
                     Please keep me in your prayers~~~~Love you all!

~~~COTTAGE BATH~~~
                            Hello blogland friends!  Hope everyone is doing well~~~
I've been tinkering a little with the small cottage bathroom........looking forward to Spring!  We have been blessed so far with a little snow and not much ice.
I found these SWEET galvanized letters the other day from a shop called Dresser up.  The owners name is Wendy and she specializes in Vintage and paint w/painting classes.  She has a FB page...check her out!
                                              LOVE the Tulips~~~
The Antique frame has a touch of old pink paint on it.  I thought this would be sweet for a Valentines decor~
Stay Warm~~~Blessings~~~Roxie
COTTAGE KITCHEN UPDATE
                                       Hi friends!  Is everyone staying warm?
Since it's soooo cold outside......I've been busy inside.  The kitchen is basically finished except a little trim around the baseboard.  I am looking to add a few vintage glass cake stands to my collection and it's always fun to change/add to the decor for the seasons.
I am very pleased how this tiny kitchen turned out (8x9) and my Ken did a wonderful job!  I am happy with the selections we made..as in the farmhouse sink, Martha Stewart cabinets and hardware, the IKEA butcher block, and the shelving I put together myself from Home Depot.  Note:  Martha's shelving/brackets were $1,200..no way!   This shelving and brackets cost around $200 (tax included)
I really like the vintage/retro style GE stove and the fridge fit perfect.
I am using a vintage lace tablecloth for the skirt sink but I will be looking for something else soon...
The lavender in the pitcher is from my garden at the farmhouse.....it still smells wonderful~~~
                                I love my sweet antique toaster light~~~
I do have a blank wall on this side next to the fridge.........I'm looking for that "something special" to go there
                                   Have a wonderful and Blessed weekend~~~Roxie
ROMANCE MEETS RUSTIC
Romantic....Rustic.....Cabin.....Cottage.....Whatever it is, this is the earliest I have EVER started decorating for Christmas.  I never start until the first week of December but since I seem to be getting slower and slower at what I'm doing.....better start now!
Here are a few pictures.......we have much "loose ends" to do before Christmas.  So many have been asking how is everything coming along?.........(response.......S*L*O*W)   Basically, we moved in and collapsed...
This picture is the front room or as I call it "The Keeping Room".  I don't know what that word means but I like the saying.  I'm not sure what the room is keeping except all of my JUNKING stuff~~~
I have been looking for a unique grate/andirons but haven't found what we want yet.   I purchased the cowhide at "Over the Moon Vintage Mkt" from Small Town Junk.  I have been looking for different pieces of furniture to create a new look....I bought the modern button wing back recently to the right of the pic.  I like!
Blessings to each and everyone of you and your families!~~~~~Roxie
OUTSIDE THE COTTAGE~~~
It's a beautiful Autumn day here in SW Ohio~~~the leaves are changing color and falling right before our eyes!  There is a crisp feel in the air~~~
Do you notice a change in the front of the cottage?  The concrete slab piece in front of the diamond grid picture window is gone forever~~~and a small slab piece to the far right is no longer there.  Yeah!
The concrete that is left will be changed/or removed next Spring....Hubby and I are still working on a plan for that change.
We haven't decided if we are going too put any landscape out in front this Fall or wait till Spring....I believe we will wait.
Ken has started around the corner to the left replacing damaged cedar shakes before Winter sets in.  I can't wait to see that improvement.  Still a lot to do...some painting of trim and copper gutters but what an improvement!
                                                      ~~~Before~~~

                                     ~~~Work in progress~~~last Fall 2013~~~new roof.  Look at the 1929 board slabs on the roof...neat!
                                              ~~~You can see the changes~~~

Unfortunately, we lost the massive spruce on the right early in the year.  That was hard.

                              ~~~It's getting better everyday~~~
Have a wonderful blessed week~~~Roxie
