It's a beautiful Autumn day here in SW Ohio~~~the leaves are changing color and falling right before our eyes! There is a crisp feel in the air~~~
Do you notice a change in the front of the cottage? The concrete slab piece in front of the diamond grid picture window is gone forever~~~and a small slab piece to the far right is no longer there. Yeah!
The concrete that is left will be changed/or removed next Spring....Hubby and I are still working on a plan for that change.
We haven't decided if we are going too put any landscape out in front this Fall or wait till Spring....I believe we will wait.
Ken has started around the corner to the left replacing damaged cedar shakes before Winter sets in. I can't wait to see that improvement. Still a lot to do...some painting of trim and copper gutters but what an improvement!
~~~Before~~~
~~~Work in progress~~~last Fall 2013~~~new roof. Look at the 1929 board slabs on the roof...neat!
~~~You can see the changes~~~
Unfortunately, we lost the massive spruce on the right early in the year. That was hard.
~~~It's getting better everyday~~~
Have a wonderful blessed week~~~Roxie

Roxie,
ReplyDeleteYou have truly reloved this beautiful cottage. The fact that you and Ken are doing this all by yourselves is amazing. It looks so great. I am just so happy you are getting this pretty cottage done and making it a home. Beautiful my sweet friend.
Kris
Roxie- That is right at the top of the cutest cottage I have ever seen. You have done a WONDERFUL job....it looks so different from when you started but yet the sweet style that you started with just shines through now. I LOVE it! Can't wait to see more! xo Daina
ReplyDeleteOh, your cottage looks marvelous! What a difference from the first picture. I love the wood shingles on the outside! The windows are really pretty. I know you're so proud and it's just lovely.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Its a wonderful cottage. So happy for you.
ReplyDeleteRoxie, The before and after pictures , show a house becoming a home. I love it. So charming. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! There is nothing like the satisfaction of making something with your own hands. Your house is so charming.
ReplyDeleteBe blessed!
Oh so beautiful! I love the siding and prefer that over what we have. We have a maroon color type of siding like yours but I love the natural look more and those windows are to die for!! Happy Autumn!! :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness . . . it is certainly getting better, and better, and better . . . I could go on and on. The two of you have been so busy and it shows. I'm sure that you are getting many positive comments from your new neighbors. I love the natural cedar shakes on the outside . . . they give it so much charm. If I were there I would be giving you both a big pat on the back . . . job well (no perfectly) done:)
ReplyDeleteConnie:)
Your cottage has gained some new charm with the new cedar shake shingled siding, Roxie! I love how it looks with the windows. You are probably better off waiting until Spring to plant. This way you can take the winter months to maybe make up a plan for your landscaping. Plus, if we have as bad a winter as they are saying you won't have to worry about losing anything.
ReplyDeleteLove your cottage...you guys have done an awesome job making it into the cottage of your dreams!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Cindy
Roxie, I love the changes you've made to the exterior of your cottage! The wood shake siding looks so sharp with your white painted windows. I bet your neighbors are thrilled to see your home come to life again! It's just lovely.

Wow Roxie - what a huge amount of difference. You and your hubby had such wonderful vision. This cottage has turned out to be absolutely lovely. I think you need a rest - I would wait to until spring to landscape. Besides when winter winds are howling you can be dreaming about pretty blooming things. (Those garden catalogs always get me drooling - lol)!! Have a beautiful day my dear - blessings to you too!!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet is your cottage!!! Love the transformation!
ReplyDeleteHi... I saw your comment on my good friend Beth's blog and you tweaked my interest.... what a great project you have with this wonderful cottage... I am not a stranger to such projects as we've spent 42 years working on an 1850's Wisconsin cheese factory and have 2 acres of ornamental gardens as well....renovating in both the gardens and the home become an earthy passion and a blessing in one's life... good luck in the future... Larry
ReplyDeleteYour cottage is so cozy and inviting, Roxie, I'm a front porch sitter, too! We are experiencing a beautiful fall week here in Iowa. The leaves are turning into their last burst of color for us all to enjoy. Love your display of pumpkins, gourds and corn stalks on the side of sweet cottage!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I'm new to your lovely blog, I followed you from the Crafty Cottage, and I will visit you again, soon!

ReplyDeleteYour cottage is looking very nice, Roxie. I really like the front windows. I am settling into our new home also. It's been a process, but it is feeling like home sweet home to me. ReplyDeleteHappy Autumn days, Roxie.
